The Highs And Lows Of Soultree Mountain Essentials Kit- BDIH Certified Natural Brand

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog!

So, among a lot of you who follow me on Instagram wanted me to do a review on a bunch of Soultree’s products. They are getting quite a lot of rave reviews by many beauty bloggers and I myself wanted to experience their results. So, what’s best than grabbing one of their travel kits to get a feel of the products, right? RIGHT??

About a month ago, I picked up this kit from Soultree, that is an Indian BDIH certified brand offering skin, hair and bodycare products.

It is an Indian brand certified by BDIH Germany and Safe For Cosmetics and the only Indian brand to be offered these certifications.

The founder insists on using only raw, sustainably sourced ingredients, from different regions that also help farmers in the process. They have their own facility where all the products are manufactured using Ayurvedic herbs that are grown organically.

Soultree isn’t only available in India but also major countries in Europe, Africa, Australia and Japan.

This kit includes;

Indian Rose Face Wash With Turmeric And Honey- 30ml

Apricot Moisturiser With Honey And Kokum Butter- 30ml

Sun Protection With Aloe And Green Tree SPF-30- 25gms

Antiageing Body Oil-Brahmi, Majishtha And Mineral-rich Sesame-

Indian Rose And Cooling Vetiver Shower Gel- 30ml

Since I started using the face wash first so let me share my thoughts on it before going ahead with reviewing rest of the products. Firstly, the colour is spectacular, reminds me a lot of Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, which is a bestseller from this London based brand. However, the colour of the former is more orange hued than peachy. The scent is like most of Soultree products, really good and doesn’t linger to an extent that may give a nauseated feeling.

Ingredients wise, this affordable product does have a lot to offer. It is brimmed with herbs like Manjistha, Turmeric, Neem and Vetiver known in Ayurveda and also clinically tested to help with dark spots, ance, uneven tone, overstimulated skin and heat. Also present are skin nourishing Honey, Hydrolysed Wheat Protein and hydrating Rose and Glycerin.

This is one of the very few gel face washes that actually do not feel stripping on my skin when used twice a day in winters. The SULFATE FREE formula creates soft lather, cleanses thoroughly yet gently and leaves the skin soft to touch from very first use.

My take- For slightly dry to combination skin types

Soultree Indian Rose Face Wash| Apricot Moisturiser With Kokum Butter And Honey

The brand indicates this body lotion for both face and body usage. It has cold-pressed Himlayan Apricot Kernel Oil, Wild Honey from Sirumilai forests in Tamil Nadu, India. Also present are regulars in most of the products—Sunflower Oil, Kokum Butter, Honey, Majishtha and Aloe Vera.

The texture is smooth and consistency is light, ideal for facial use and reapplication on hands post cleansing. It doesn’t absorb that quickly even though a very little amount is used, so will help prevent loss of moisture from dry skin. The scent of this white coloured lotion is bit sweet and citrusy, lasts for a while before fading away gradually.

Overall, this is a decent oil based moisturiser that is lighter than greasy cream based formulas but effective enough for everyday day time use.

My take- For dry skin not prone to ezcema this moisturiser can be used throughout the year

This is one of the few natural sunscreens in India that contain physical UV blockers. Physical UV blockers mean they reflect the sun’s rays rather than absorbing them and neutralising it’s harmful effects.

Zinc oxide and Titanium dioxide are the sun protectants used here with moisturisers and antioxidants for whole rounded benefits. Nourishing oils like Coconut, Olive, Almond, Cacoa Butter, Hydrolysed Wheat Protein make this essential for very dry skin that often can feel dry from most physical sunscreens. Antioxidants like Green Tea and Carrot Seed Oil strengthen the suscreen’s defense. Overall, this is a good product but there are two things that need to be considered. Firstly, is the consistency—very rich for facial application and needs some time to absorb(I tried it on my hand and it took a while before the shiny greasy appearance faded away). Second being the white cast that makes it even more difficult to apply on deeper skin tones.

My take- Although the formula is good, this sunscreen is fit for light to fair dry skin types.

Firstly, can we just admire the pretty packaging of this lip balm for a minute? It is not only just great looks but convenient and full of plant oils—Coconut, Olive, Grapeseed, Almond, Sunflower, Castor with Cocoa, Kokum and Clarified butters and Beeswax. One can definitely expect it to give softer and smoother lips.

Moving on to the verdict based on my experience.

The scent is nice more like a dessert but doesn’t smell overpowering. The bullet is sturdy yet creamy and 1-2 swipes coat the lips perfectly with the product. However, I like to go on little extra and swipe 3-4 times to get a thick coating. The waxy consistency hardens and dries a little during winters but feels smooth on a warm day. It does protect the lips from drying out but doesn’t work any better than a much natural and affordable lip balm, which is also one of my favourites. I did not appreciate the brand adding so much fragrance to a lip balm, as lips are very thin and lacks protective barrier, hence more prone to dryness and chapping-too much fragrance(synthetic or from essential oils) is not good, especially for dry skin.

My take- For normal to dry lips that aren’t prone to cracking or bleeding.

As the title suggests, this is infact a cooling body wash. Thick in consistency, creating soft lather and good cleansing property, this is a summer appropriate shower gel. The cooling effect lingers and actually, it does keep the sweat and body odour(NO, I don’t smell otherwise, lol) away for bit longer than if I had showered with my regular body wash. The secret is the presence of Vetiver, a well known herb in India also called Khus and used in summers as a cooling drink. I learnt about its benefits on skin not long ago and have been since using Vetiver loofahs along with my body washes. The subtle grassy, slightly citrusy fragrance compliments the soothing and cooling effect of this showel gel. Vetiver is also found to have soothing and mild skin brightening effects to some extent.

Along with Vetiver, it also contains Rose, Hibiscus, Aloevera and Honey, all these ingredients provide hydration, perfect for hot and humid weather. There is no slimy residual feeling left behind and body feels squeaky clean post showering.

MY TAKE- For normal to oily skin and perfect during humid summer months.

Soultree Anti-Ageing Body Oil | Soultree Indian Rose And Cooling Vetiver Shower Gel

Sesame oil has many benefits when included for both intake and external application. This is one body oil that does not feel like one but an oil based moisturiser that sinks in the skin leaving behind no traces of residue or stickiness. It is considered as one of the best oils for skin application. It is rich in linoleic and oleic acids(also known as Omega 6 and 9 fatty acids) that are very helpful in restoring dry skin conditions. To further enhance this body oil’s efficacy are Rice Bran, Apricot Kernel, Sunflower oils infused with herbs like Shatavari(Asparagus), Brahmi, Amla, Arjuna and Bala.

The consistency of this body oil is not as rich and greasy as I presumed so that makes me happy, even though my assumption was wrong, lol. I smother my hands and feet at night with the oil on damp skin and wake up with completely slick free soft skin. Most of the nourishing body butters/oils/lotions do tend to feel greasy in the areas where sweating is most common while sleeping—inner elbows, behind the knees(I don’t keep air conditioning ON for long, read more here to find out why) but not this one. It also has a subtle scent, unlikely from most Soultree products which again is a plus point for my allergies.

My take- For all skin types except very dry and/or prone to dermatitis

What I Like About Soultree Mountain Essentials Kit

Rightly formulated for dry skin, except for the shower gel

Minimal ingredients

Lovely Packaging

Nicely scented for those who love bit of fragrance in their skincare products

What I Did Not Like About Soultree Mountain Essentials Kit

Too much fragrance, definitely not a fan. Not only as a personal preference but fragrance sourced from essential oils doesn’t make it any good or safer for skin in the long run.
