Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog!
Today I am going to share my thoughts on one of the products from Clinique’s Moisture Surge range. Their Moisture Surge 72 Hour Hydrator is most popular from the range and Supercharged Concentrate is a newer more saturated version with a much lighter formula making it the best face cream for Dry Skin.
“Moisture Surge Range” is targeted for dry to oily skin types suffering from dehydration. The products are light weight yet intense to provide skin with a comforting blanket of hydration.
Previously, our skin was divided into three primary types- Dry, Normal, Oily. Due to lifestyle changes and increasing pollution, the stress on the skin is 100% times more. Dehydrated skin is a condition but nowadays it is considered as a “skin type” but a secondary one. For instance, your skin is combination- it will have excess oil production in some areas, usually the t-zone and dryness on the cheeks and sides of forehead and neck(yes, when we talk about face, neck is ALWAYS counted). However, your skin will be lacking hydration too. The easy to tell signs if you have dehydrated skin is to notice the oilier areas where even though there is a lot of shine, your skin will feel rough and tight. Temporary dehydration is very common in urban lifestyles and with weather change but, if, it’s a year-round issue then a serum/concentrate/booster—preferably some sort of a treatment product is a must.
So now that we have moved away from the confusion between dry and dehydrated, let’s jump right into the review.
CLINIQUE MOISTURE SURGE HYDRATING SUPERCHARGED CONCENTRATE
WHAT IT IS;
Supercharged gel based hydrator that quenches dehydrated skin for full 72 hours with patented liquid sphere technology combines water binding ingredients and encapsulated antioxidants. Hyaluronic Acid fragments with charged Aloe Water to provide a plumped skin effect.
QUANTITY AND AVAILABILITY;
Buy from here (India)

TEXTURE, FRAGRANCE AND CONSISTENCY;
Gel with tiny soft cushiony bead like particles that burst open when massaged on the skin. Consistency seems like a jelly but instantly turns into a silky light weight gel when in contact with the skin.
HOW TO USE;
Apply day and/or night on clean skin.
I apply it either on cleansed skin directly or after applying Vitamin C serum. You can use it after your water based serums as well.
CAFFEINE– Antioxidant, increases micro circulation that helps with dull puffy skin.
CHOLESTEROL– Naturally present in the skin. One of major components of skin’s epidermis. Helps to keep the skin surface smooth and less prone to damage.
SODIUM HYALURONATE, SUCROSE, ALTEROMONAS FERMENT EXTRACT, ALGAE EXTRACT, ACETYL GLOCOSAMINE, TREHALOSE, HYDROXYETHYL UREA, SORBITOL, GLYCERIN, SODIUM POLYASPARTATE– Humectants. Bind to moisture and provide skin with long last hydration. These have different sources but all of them work to condition the skin and provide anti-inflammatory effect. Great for oilier skin types that tend to feel dehydrated and bit dry at times.
HYDROLYZED RICE– A plant based protein that offers anti irritant/soothing effect on dry parched skin by supplementing with amino acids(important component of epidermis)
I have already used and talked about this concentrated hydrating gel a while ago but recently tested it during my last trip where the weather was very dry. You can read more about what I carried in my travel skincare bag here. My experience with it was much more than expected which made me buy a full size in the first place.
After introducing chemical exfoliants (read more about how to introduce them in your skincare routine here) in my routine consistently, my skin has different needs than before and also receptacle to rich formulations but, I must ensure that wind, hot sun and dry air doesn’t lead to irritation, and the best route to healthy skin is “protection” than “treatment”. Isn’t it lovelies?
Supercharged Concentrate is neither a gel nor a serum but sort of a hybrid and has not one but multiple ingredients that hydrate the skin. It provides a cooling (not the one we experience from peppermint oil based products) and instant hydrating effect. There are many water binding agents such as Glycerin, Algae, Trehalose, Sucrose, Acetyl Glucosamine, Sorbitol, Urea, Sodium Polyaspartate, Sodium Hyaluronate—these ingredients bind to water(moisture) and work to prevent transepidermal(skin) water loss. Result? Smoother plumper skin that looks fresh. The addition of Cholestrol and Caffeine offer the skin a whole rounded approach for healthy looking skin. Also present are Vitamin C and E.
“CLINIQUE’S SUPERCHARGED CONCENTRATE LEAVES A SOFT FINISH THAT WILL MAKE EVEN A DULL, FLAT LOOKING FACE BIT MORE ALIVE…”
The technology behind their pump dispenser is very smart. The bottle is high quality plastic with metal top and pump, very sturdy yet smooth operating and definitely very pretty to place on the vanity. You will never feel like a lot of product came out that lead to wastage. About 2-3 pumps dispenses enough to thoroughly cover the face and neck. The water-gel with encapsulated ingredients adds such an aesthetic appeal that I don’t think I will ever be bored of. And, I am always excited about hygienic packaging so, that’s another plus for me.
Unlike other products that form a sticky layer almost like sitting on the skin and making it look greasy, Clinique’s Supercharged Concentrate which is the best face cream for dry skin leaves a soft finish that will make even a dull flat looking face look bit more alive but will never give a slick appearance to oily skin. Another great factor is within 2-3 minutes the gel settles in the skin completely so, you can follow up with a heavier moisturiser or oil, if you need but, I never felt the necessity to layer with anything except protect the skin my current favourite sunblock. I always notice that my skin feels smoother to touch, looks instantly awake and there is no tightness—the one we can feel when we smile.
“TO BE VERY FRANK, USING IT EVEN ONCE A DAY FOR A WEEK HAVE GIVEN ME VISIBLE RESULTS….”
If you need a good moisturiser with cold pressed oils that does not clog pores then try my current favourite moisturiser. It never has clogged my skin—which is very prone to comedonal acne.
Including hyaluronic acid based products on a daily basis has improved my skin in many ways that has not only added a refreshed look but more refined and brightened appearance. Other common visible signs of dehydrated skin are superficial wrinkles on forehead, flaky patches in the laugh line areas, overall dull appearance. All these factors have been taken care of after I started using Clinique Supercharged Concentrate morning and night. To be very frank, using it even once a day for a week gave me visible results and that’s how good of an investment another purchase from Clinique has been. After close evaluation, I can confirm that my skin never faced clogging issues while using this product.
The claim of providing continued hydration for 72 hours can be too hard to test in reality as there is no way we wouldn’t cleanse our skin for that long but, I can affirm it does work for 12 hours straight on combination skin without reapplication.
WOULD I RECOMMEND IT?
I recommend it to everyone who are looking for a hydrating serum and a light weight moisturiser in one product that looks pretty, provides instant comfort and long lasting hydration in a fragrance free formula.
I hope you liked reading this post, thank you so much for visiting!
