My Uncomplicated Weekend Makeup Routine

Ask people what they will be doing this weekend, and you will be flooded with answers for thousands of pre planned ideas and trips. If that same question is directed towards me, you will be confused if whether the answer came from a young woman or a very old lady. My weekend fun seems like, movies, fast food and scrubbing down the whole body followed with an epsom salt bath-my post on current favourite epsom salt products completed with a greasy layering of two to three body moisturisers.

I still manage to pull myself together and agree to leave home and unwind someplace elsewhere once in a blue moon. I am not made to count every weekend as an opportunity to raid my wardrobe and beauty closet and look my very best for date nights, parties or girls night out. Trust me, I do wish I was more of a socialising type. I am sure my friends know by now that all my excuses are not always!
So, I am going for two days trip this weekend and I want my makeup to be just as simple and natural because it’s going to be all about relaxing and being a little closer to nature, no dressing up or dining in Michelin start restaurants.

I was supposed to post some diy posts this week but couldn’t wait to share my simplified makeup routine, so had to talk about it!
I want everything to fit in a medium sized zipper pouch with very less need for makeup brushes.

My Base:
I have uncertain feelings for primers because of many reasons but I don’t mind a thin veil of priming action. That’s where Estee Lauder’s Idealist Pore Minimising Skin Refinisher comes to my rescue. I genuinely fell in love with it after five uses, why not at first use, you may ask? It does have lavender, grapefruit, coriander and clary extracts, which are not as stimulating as their oils but there can be some completely insignificant mild flushing and warming sensations initially on sensitive skin types. But, if you can get pass that, there are some wonderful ingredients that your skin will love. I have included it in my makeup routine because even if I am applying just a compact powder, I will always have my Idealist under it. It is a serum that clarifies, brightens, blurs with some good antioxidants. And, that’s why I love it!

As much as I would love to use foundations, I am in no rush. And, buying a bottle of Estee Lauder or Giorgio Armani wouldn’t be a wise decision when I would take them out from the back of the regular stash for weddings or festivities, dust off the dirt and squirt the tiniest amount to get an insane coverage(you know what I mean, right? right?).
Maybelline Fit Me concealor was and is still my favourite since last few months. It gives good coverage, doesn’t crease when used with a good moisturiser and lasts really well(even after sweating). I use it for spots, under my eyes, as a makeup base and as a tint for my face mixing with a light weight oil.

Again a favourite since my college days, L’Oreal Super Blendable Powder in Rose Vanilla is that one product I would recommend to everyone who is starting their makeup collection and also women who love simple, fresh makeup looks. I use to love Lancome’s Teint Idole, it had more coverage as well but also seem to oxidise a little at the end of the day which isn’t the case with L’Oréal.

My Cheeks:

Are you a fan of cream or powder blushes? I’ve got both for you! Korean brand VDL cosmetics pantone collection has two shades of cream blushes. I like my cheeks to look more naturally flushed than peachy. Coral vitality from VDL is one shade that feels so smooth on the skin but not greasy and is very easily buildable for subtle to intense colour. As the name suggests, it is coral but melts to a pink tint when blended.
I love how naturally dewy and healthy my cheeks look whenever I apply it.

As a subtle highlighter and peachy look, I am taking my MUA mono powder blush in Shade 1.
It starts off as a subtle tint and can be builded up but tiny gold shimmer particles do not get over board and make you look like a disco ball, so I love that about it. Did I mention the extremely travel and pocket friendly size and price?

Makeup Revolution Shimmer brick in Rose Gold is multitasking and that’s what makes it a suitable option for capsule makeup routine. Use it as a highlighter or swipe each shade to add some shimmer on the lids. It has very very pigmented and shimmery formula. I use it both ways and it makes me happy, a lot!

My Eyes:

I am a mascara girl, you wouldn’t find me without hefty lashings of mascara(and some lip tint) even when running errands. I need both volume and length. Since my makeup is going to be subtle, I need my eyes to pop. Maybelline is the vogue of drugstore mascaras and I literally praise it’s formulas(except for falsies strange rubbery wand. Not a fan!). Colossal has been one of my first ever mascaras and I used the waterproof one the most. It has an immensely densifying property. The pigment is intense and lashes stay curled and thick and deep deep black until I finally take my makeup off.
One honest experience and tip for you guys-Use a washable mascara on your lashes, let it dry and then seal with a waterproof one. The waxy formulas in waterproof versions can cause fall outs(of your lashes) so don’t use them directly on your natural lashes.
For length and flare comes Maybelline’s another hit-Lash Sensational! It has a great formula, dual sided wand and I always am able to achieve flared and lengthened lashes but never too dramatic. Combining both the above mascaras gives me desired results, so I always use them together.

My Lips:

Going to leave my Windsor Rose from The Body Shop and carrying two relatively new lip products. Colorpop liquid lipsticks are new additions to my moderately sufficient makeup collection. Frick and Frack is a dark beige nude colour which has a satin finish. It is very pigmented and leaves a tint even after it comes off so a great pick if there’s a get together and long brunches.
I recently got Burt’s Bees lipstick in Ruby Ripple. It has a very moisturising formula and a flattering pinkish red colour which can easily be used as cheek tint. It is a cream lipstick so not very long lasting but I love to have a naturally fresh look even when on a coffee run. I also love the fact that it gives a healthy alive look to my face even without putting on any other makeup.

So, there you have it!

How is your weekend makeup routine like?
Good Luck xoxo
