DIY INVIGORATING GINGER & THYME BODY SCRUB

Hey My Beautiful Friends,

Everyone loves exfoliating their skin and loosing themselves in the heavenly scents and luring packaging. But, not everyone can afford buying tons of store bought scrubs. Infact, unless a scrub has many wonderful ingredients, we should rather stick to home made ones. And, there is so much of versatility when it comes to a DIY scrub.

Although, today’s post is going to be a short and precise one, I couldn’t help myself but share this recent scrub that I have been trying out. I used it, I gave it to my MOM and today I decided to make this for my friend on her birthday. Well, I have prepared other gifts for her apart from this, but since this is beauty related, I wanted to share the recipe with you all!!

THE PICTURE SAYS GINGER AND PEPPER BODY SCRUB, BUT IT IS THE SAME RECIPE.

This is a perfect summer scrub and using this in the shower just wakes me up and the skin feels refreshed and soft.

Rather than measuring out in cups or spoons, I decided to make it easy and go with portions;

4 PARTS OF GRANULATED OR DEMERERA SUGAR

3 PARTS OF COCONUT SUGAR

2 PARTS OF COCONUT OIL (Make sure it is not processed.)

Now with the spices and essential oils;

For the bottles in the picture (200ML) each, I used;

3 TABLESPOONS OF GRANULATED SUGAR

2 TABLESPOONS OF COCONUT SUGAR

1 1/2 TABLESPOONS OF COCONUT OIL

1 TEASPOON OF GRATED GINGER

1/2 – 1 TEASPOON OF CRUSHED BLACK PEPPER

1 TEASPOON OF THYME ( Fresh or dry, whatever is available. But, fresh will give a stronger aroma)

6-7 DROPS OF THYME ESSENTIAL OIL

4-5 DROPS OF GINGER ESSENTIAL OIL

5-6 DROPS OF LEMON ESSENTIAL OIL

The quantities given above are for each bottle.

Ginger has stimulating and detoxifying properties and thyme has astringent effect, while lemon is not only brightening but has clarifying benefits. Since, I wanted the scrub to be bit tingly and very refreshing to smell, I made it little stronger. Do make sure that different brands have different sources and the strength of the aroma of their essentials oils also varies.

Hope you liked this DIY and do let me know when you try it out for yourself!

Take care Beauties..xoxo

GOOD LUCK..
