Today, I will be sharing some of my favourite drinks that my mom and I cherish especially during hot, humid summers.
My mom has always inculcated a habit of having foods and drinks that aide in digestion and also cools down the body temperature, so we don’t drain ourselves running about under the scorching hot sun.
MINTY WATERMELONADE
1 pound frozen watermelon cubes
2-3 mint leaves
2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
1/4 tsp grated ginger
FOR THE GLASS RIM
Salt
Sugar
lime zest
This is a great drink if you are on the go. However, rimming of the glasses will be skipped.
This drink is packed with Vitamin C, Potassium, Digestive aide and will help to ward of the heat and cool down the body temperature.
FEISTY ORANGE BLAST
1 liter Orange juice
2 freshly squeezed lemon juice
200 ml Sprite
1/4 tsp freshly chopped red chilli
1 tsp salt
This is a fizzy drink with just the right amount of carbonated water. The red chilli may sound a bit drastic but it actually adds that little fire to the excessively citrusy flavour.
This is purely an adult drink without the night after hangovers froman alcoholic drink.
CREAMY STRAWBERRY SLUSHY
1/2 cup crushed ice
2 cups frozen strawberries
500 ml coconut water
200 ml coconut cream
zest of half a lemon
2 tbsp rose syrup
Blend strawberries and coconut water. In a tall glass, add crushed ice , pour 2 tbsp of cocnut cream, top of with rose syrup and then the blended mixture. Whip the rest of the coconut cream until soft peaks form. Place it gently on the drink and granish with lemon zest.
(YOU CAN USE STORE BOUGHT COCONUT MILK AND WHIP IT UP INTO SMOOTH CREAM OR YOU CAN USE FRESH HOMEMADE COCONUT MILK)
This can be a wonderful addition to end the meal instead of a proper dessert. My guests love it and always asks for seconds.
